Sridevi, yesteryear dream girl of Indian cinema, turns 50

Sridevi, who did character named Mayil in ‘16 Vayathinile’ is turning 50 today, on August 13th.  Birthday greetings are pouring in for Sridevi from cine associates and fans. 

Sridevi was born in Sivakasi, Tamil Nadu. Sridevi became a child artiste in cinema when she was aged four.  Following that, Sridevi did role in Tamil movie ‘Moondru Mudichu’ when she was aged 13. 


Then, Sridevi did super hit movies including 16 Vayathinile, Sivappu Rojakkal, Moondram Pirai, Priya, Kalyana Raman.  Sridevi paired up with lead actors as Rajini and Kamal.  Sridevi made rounds as dream girl in Tamil cinema during 1970’s and 1980’s. 

Sridevi did not stop with doing Tamil movies alone, but also did Telugu, Malayalam and Kannada movies.  Then, she made a swift entry into Hindi cine field and made rounds as dream girl in Hindi cinema.  Sridevi married Bony Kapoor, a lead Bollywood producer.  After marriage, Sridevi started accepting lesser movie chances. 

After a long gap, Sridevi appeared in television program, and made reentry into cine field through ‘English Vinglish’.  As the movie turned hit, she is bracing up for good roles in movies. 


Sridevi has received National Award, many Regional Awards, and Filmfare award.  Sridevi is turning 50 today.  Although she is 50, Sridevi is very youthful and exuberant.  Birthday greetings are pouring in for Sridevi from her cine associates and fans.
