Tamil film industry observes silent protest for Jallikattu

Nadigar Sangam has come together for silent strike to protest for Jallikattu. The members went on a day long protest today at the Nadigar Sangam grounds.

Among the first to arrive was actor Ajith and his wife Shalini. Leading stars including Rajinikanth, Suriya, Sivakarthikeyan, Trisha, Karthi, Sathyaraj and Nassar were present.

The Nadigar Sangam has requested media to not cover their silent protest as they don’t want to deviate the attention from youngsters and students, who are spearheading the revolutionary movement to lift the ban against Tamils’ traditional sport Jallikattu. 

The official statement from Nadigar Sangam’s president Nassar also says that actors will not be registering any comments during the protest.  Many more are expected to be at the Nadigar Sangam grounds and join the silent protest.Earlier, Kamal Hassan, Simbu, Vijay Raghava Lawrence, Aari among other had expressed their support.

A few of them even joined the protest at Marina. Actor-composer G V Prakash is touring the State to participate in various protests that are held.

AR Rahman is observing one day fast today. Composer D Imman has been preparing breakfast, lunch and dinner for protesters at his residence for the past three days. 

Choreographer-actor Raghava Lawrence, who is suffering from a neck injury, he has been with the students for the last two days at Marina. Hiphop Tamizha Aadhi and Arunraja Kamaraj have participated in protests across many places in Tamil Nadu.
