Tamil Nadu Government refuses tax exemption for ‘Chennaiyil Oru Naal’

Reportedly, ADMK Government has refused tax exemption for movie ‘Chennaiyil Oru Naal’ jointly produced by Sarathkumar and his wife Radhika.

‘Chennaiyil Oru Naal’ stars Sarathkumar, Radhika, Cheran, Prasanna and Mallika.  The movie intends to create awareness regarding organ donation.

The movie is based on real instance.  They demanded tax exemption for the movie.  Although the title is beautiful and the story is wonderful, the government seems to have denied tax exemption.

As a matter of fact ADMK is the ruling party, and Sarathkumar is Chief Minister Jayalalithaa’s close associate.  He turned an MLA as she contested elections in favour of ADMK.

But the fact that the government has denied tax exemption for Sarathkumar’s movie has taken many people by surprise.

But Sun TV is quoted as reason for the refusal by government to provide tax exemption for the movie.  It seems to have irked the higher-ups as the movie is being promoted with thanks to Sun TV.
