Temple authorities ban shooting of Shahrukh Starrer in Kangeyam Temple

As permission was not granted for shooting of Shahrukh Khan’s movie in Kangeyam Temple, they have decided to raise set and conduct shooting.

Movie ‘Chennai Express’ starring Hindi actor Shahrukh Khan is being made at a budget of Rs 100 crore.  The movie shooting is happening in many locations in Tamil Nadu.

Some scenes in which both Shahrukh Khan and Deepika Padukone appear were shot in Kangeyam Vattamalai Murugan Temple on Monday.  The scene in which Shahrukh Khan proposes love to Deepika was shot in inner portion of the temple.

It was reported that due permission was not obtained from authorities.  Authorities visited the shooting spot on Monday and banned movie shooting in the place.

With no other go, they left the spot without shooting the leftover portions.  Later, the movie crew made efforts to conduct shooting in the spot. But they could not obtain permission.

Regarding the issue, Chennai Express crew spoke: -

‘As we could not obtain permission to conduct shooting in the Vattamalai Temple, we have decided to shoot the other scenes after raising set resembling the temple.

The crew said that a set would be raised in Mumbai resembling the inner portion of the temple and scenes would be shot.’

The Temple authorities spoke: -

‘Usually, permission is not given to conduct shooting in temples.  The reason is that the movie crew litter the place where shooting is conducted.  This hurts the sentiments of devotees.  Devotees protest against conducting of shooting. Also, other temples in Tamil Nadu do not allow movie shootings.’
