Theatre owners in Kerala protest against controversial scene in ‘Kalimannu’

Women’s outfits had already raised voice in protest against movie Kalimannu starring actress Shweta Menon.  Now, Kerala Film Exhibitors Federation has raised voice in protest against the movie.

Actress Shweta Menon did Tamil movies including ‘Aravaan’.  Now, Shweta Menon is into Malayalam movie ‘Kalimannu’. Actress Shweta Menon allowed shooting delivery of her child for the movie.

Director Blessy shot the scene showing delivery of child in hospital.  Women’s outfits protested against shooting delivery of child for the movie. Also, they announced that they would agitate if the scene showing delivery of child takes place in the movie.

In a development, the movie was screened for censor board officials.  Censor board gave ‘U’ certification for the movie.

Director Blessy spoke: -

‘The scene showing delivery of child is needed for the movie.  That is the reason why we got permission from Shweta Menon and her husband, and shot the scene realistically.’

‘Also, censor board has not objected to any scene in the movie and has given certification.’
But Kerala Film Exhibitors Federation has protested against the movie.

‘Although the movie has received certification from censor board, women’s outfits have protested against showing delivery of child in the movie.  So, we would screen the movie only after removing the controversial scene.’, announced the Kerala Film Exhibitors Federation.

The movie crew has raised question as to whether Kerala Film Exhibitors Federation is vested with more authority than the censor board.
