Veteran actor MLA Thangaraj no more

Veteran Kollywood actor MLA Thangaraj passed away yesterday following heart attack. He was aged 80. 


Thangaraj turned popular in Tamil cinema through role as MLA for movies.  So, cine people had been addressing him as MLA Thangaraj.  The main reason for him to be addressed fondly as MLA Thangaraj is that he did role of MLA in MGR’s ‘Pallaandu Vaazhga’. 

Thangaraj, who was born in Kumbakonam, initially did stage dramas.  Then, he debuted in cine field through movie ‘Maangalyam’.  Following that, he had done about 300 movies including ‘Raja Raja Chozhan’, ‘Disai Maariya Paravaigal’, ‘Garuda Sowkkiyama?’ and ‘Suprabhatam’. 


Thangaraj lastly did Ajith starrer Raja.  Also, Thangaraj had done many television serials.  Thangaraj is survived by wife Santha and daughter Sumathi.  Also, he was into movie Sumathi and TV Serials. 


For a few months, Thangaraj had been ill and had been receiving treatment.  Yesterday, in the afternoon at around 1 pm, he suffered breathing trouble.  Following that, he suffered cardiac arrest and passed away. 


His body has been placed in his residence for homage.  Final tributes were paid to Thangarajj on behalf of South Indian Artistes Association.  Thangaraj’s body is to be cremated in Kannapettai crematorium this afternoon.
