Veteran actress Rajasulochana no more

Veteran actress Rajasulochana, aged 77, who had been suffering health setback, passed away this morning not responding to treatment.

Rajasulochana was residing with family in Sadasivam Nagar, Madippakkam, Four days before, Rajasulochana suffered sudden health setback.  Also, there was kidney problem.  Following the health setback, Rajasulochana was admitted to private hospital.

Although doctors gave her intensive treatment, Rajasulochana passed away this morning at 2.45 not responding to treatment.


Late Rajasulochana was lead actress during 1950’s and 60’s.  Rajasulochana has done 350 movies in Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, and Malayalam.  Also, Rajasulochana paired up with actors as MGR, Sivaji Ganesan, NT Rama Rao, Nageswara Rao, Rajkumar, SS Rajendran, and Nambiar. 


Song in movie ‘Kaidhi Kannaayiram’ in which Rajasulochana emerged turned hit.  Also, her song in movie ‘Nallavan Vaazhvaan’ starring MGR turned hit. 


In movie ‘Thunivae Thunai’ starring Jai Shankar, Rajasulochana did bandit queen and in MGR Starrer ‘Idhayakani’ she did villain role.  Also, in Sivaji Starrer ‘Paditthaal Mattum Podhumaa’ she did role of one who marries Sivaji Ganesan and later despises him as he is not educated. 


Movies as Arasalinkumari, Mahakavi Kalidas, Kavalai Illaadha Manidhan, Thaai Magalukku Kattiya Thaali, Thai Piranthaal Vazhi Pirakkum, VanangaaMudi, Ambikapathi, Alaavudeenum Arpudha Vilakkum, and Rangoon Radha proved important movies in Rajasulochana’s cine career. 


Rajasulochana was born in Vijayawada, Andhra Pradesh in 1935.  Her father Bhakthavatsalam Naidu served in Railways.

 
As Bhakthavatsalam Naidu was transferred to Chennai following job promotion, he took up residence in Chennai.  Rajasulochana learnt Indian classical dance and turned a lead dance artiste.  Actress Rajasulochana debuted as actress through Kannada movie ‘Gunasagari’ released in 1953.  Rajasulochana married director – actor C. S. Rao. 


Actress Rajasulochana is survived by twin daughters Devi, Sree and a son by name Shaam Sundar.  Shaam Sundar is in America.  News of Rajasulochana’s demise has been conveyed to her son who is now on his way back to India. 


The final rites are to be held tomorrow at 1 in the noon.  Rajasulochana’s body has been placed for homage in her residence at Madippakkam.  Many actors and actresses are paying homage to her body.
