Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Jayalalithaa inaugurated the Centenary Celebrations of Indian Cinema day before yesterday.
There was prevalent doubt regarding whether Ilayathalapathy Vijay would appear for the event. It was spoken about that Vijay would not participate in the festival. Quite unexpectedly, Vijay turned up for the event. In the festival, Vijay appreciated stunt artistes, and also made felicitating address about Chief Minister.
Vijay spoke: -
‘Although cinema is 100 year old, it would keep on progressing. Hard workers perspire and put in efforts… Stunt artistes shed blood and work.
Wife and daughter of a stunt artiste were moved to tears as they watched him performing action scene in movie. I can never forget that scene.
Another stunt artiste needed to drive a car in raging fire. Before doing the scene, he spoke to his daughter over phone. When asked why he spoke to his daughter before doing the scene, he said that he doubted whether he could speak to his daughter after doing the scene. I was moved to tears as he said so.
Behind action scenes in every movie that you appreciate, there are wounds, pains, and even some deaths. We call those who extinguish fire as brave people. The same way, Stunt Artistes are very brave people. I salute stunt artistes.
‘It is a matter of pride that Chief Minister Jayalalithaa presides over Centenary Celebrations of Indian Cinema. She started her life as an actress, encountered protests, and took up many challenges. Now, she is ruling Tamil Nadu. It is an esteem accorded on cinema artistes.’
