Rajapakse to visit London

Sri Lanka's President Mahinda Rajapakse is expected to leave for the United Kingdom on Monday on a two day visit. He is scheduled to address the Oxford Students Union on Tuesday, according to media reports.

Meanwhile, the government is likely to take a decision shortly on holding fresh elections, first for Wayamba Provincial Council (North Western Provincial Council), and thereafter, for the North Central Provincial Council.

Speculation is rife in political circles in Colombo that the government would dissolve these councils with the opening of the new session of the parliament fixed for June 5, reports from Colombo said.
