Bhumika Chawla on a high!
Feb 26, 2008, 14:46
Bhumika Chawla has wooed the audience time and again with her impressive performance and naïve charm and her latest release ‘Anasuya’ just adds to the list of her success. For now, the actress is all keyed up for her forthcoming release ‘Swagatham’ that stars her with Jagapathi Babu and Anushka. In this interview, Bhumika Chawla takes out time to discuss her films and work. Excerpts from an Interview: You see Tollywood reserves its best for the actors mainly. So the actresses are left with the option to settle down with laid-back roles. I chose Anasuya because it was daring and different. When Ravi Babu tossed this project towards me, I immediately grabbed it. It’s not everyday that you come across this kind of challenging roles. So was it really a challenge to essay the role onscreen? Well, yes it certainly was. I have never essayed such a role before and hence it was a kind of challenge for me to do complete justice to it. I wonder that when a film is based on a hero, people don’t come to label it as hero-centric or anything such. Then why is it the case with the heroines? Nevertheless, Anasuya holds its eyes mainly on me and that’s why I suppose people tend to see it as women-centric film. Did you undergo any special training for the role? Not really. My director had already done his research on the character and all I was left to do was just play it on screen. He directed me and revealed to me the nuances of my character. So that really came as a great help. How was it working with Ravi Babu for the first time? It has been truly an enriching experience for me. Ravi Babu is a fine technician with a precise perception of what he wants. He knows the nuances of his craft and hence is excellent when it comes to direction. I got to learn so much from him. I came out of Anasuya wiser since he taught me so much. He is thorough professional and very dedicated and diligent towards his trade.
Abbas is a pleasure to work with. He is intellectually refined and can just beat you in any conversation you care to start. He is impressively spontaneous and easy going. I loved working with him. So far as Nikhita is concerned, I did not have any scenes with her. And so I missed the opportunity of knowing her. You next release would be Dasarath’s Swagatham. Brief us a bit on this film. Swagatham is a family-centric flick, very loving and amusing. My character undergoes a whole range of emotions in this flick. So is this film a family drama? Not exactly. It’s more of a light-hearted flick that labors to show an entire array of emotions experienced by any person. How was it working with Dasrath? This film pitches you with stars like Jagapathi Babu and Anushka. How was it sharing the stage with them? It was fun. Anushka is such a jovial personality, very bright and cheery. Jagapathi Babu is an awesome actor and everybody knows it. He is very sincere, simple and a man close to earth. This is for the first time that he is producing a film. And I must congratulate him for coming up with such a brilliant upshot. Truly commendable. Three releases within six months. Impressive. What do you have to say on that? It feels nice, really gratifying. |
