[May 13, 2008, 09:10] 68 Tamil detainees, hurriedly transferred from New Magazine prison in Colombo Saturday around 8:50 p.m. by the Terrorist Investigation Department (TID) interrogators, were verbally abused, tortured and subjected to sexual abuse at the notorious Boosa Prison in Galle, according to complaints made by the parents to Tamil parliamentarian Chandrakanth Chandranehru. [May 13, 2008, 09:09] Three Tamil youths, two of them from of Jaffna and one from Badulla were abducted on Saturday from their lodges located along Kathiresan Street in Fort area in Colombo by unidentified armed men. The two youths from Jaffna had been staying in Colombo to go abroad and the upcountry Tamil youth had been a betel vendor.
[May 13, 2008, 09:08] A 22-year-old Tamil female was abducted on Sunday in Paalaavi in Puththa'lam district Sunday. Unidentified persons who came in vehicle stopped a three wheeler in which the girl was traveling with another woman and took her forcibly with them, according to complaint lodged with the police of the area.
[May 13, 2008, 09:06] Unidentified gunmen opened fire Monday around 8:00 p.m on two policemen in front of the Batticaloa Commercial Bank in Batticaloa town, killing one and injuring another.
The policeman shot and killed was identified as Wimal Dasanayake, 47, and the injured policeman as Bandara Tilaka.
[May 13, 2008, 09:04] Tension prevailed in Thirunelveali area in Jaffna Sunday night as a clash erupted between a group of armed men and the soldiers of the Sri Lanka Army (SLA) inside the premises of a vacated house that belongs to a popular businessman in Jaffna.
