Asathal

Director: P. Vasu
Cast: Satyaraj, Ramya Krishnan, Vadivelu, Ramesh Khanna, Swati, Babylona, Manivannan, Mahanadi Shanker.

It is about three men and a baby. A full-length comedy, the narration is fast-paced, the script crisp, and it manages to hold one's attention for the most part. As far as the performances are concerned, it is good teamwork no doubt.

Vetri is a wealthy man and his two friends Venu and Victor have a good time at Vetri's expense, making sure that Vetri doesn't succumb to his uncle's pressure to get married. Into their lives comes a baby, an illegitimate offspring of a rising politician. Afraid of scandal, the politician had sent his men to kill his pregnant girl friend. Chased by the killer the woman had taken refuge in Vetri's house, delivered the baby and breathed her last. Using the situation to his advantage, Vetri claims the dead woman to be his wife and baby his own, and thus temporarily escapes the marriage-trap. But he hadn't reckoned with the problems that would follow. The dead woman's younger sister vowing to take revenge on her sister's tormenter poses as the baby-sitter and makes many attempts to kill Vetri. The politician's men too make many attempts to kill the baby. Vetri narrowly escapes being killed many a time. Soon, however, matters are put in their proper perspective and the politician is exposed. The three friends with their prospective brides - right inside the house - the baby sister, the cook and the milk maid - find that marriage was not such a bad idea after all.
