Movie: Bharathi

Director: Gnana Rajasekharan
Cast:Shayaji Shinde, Rajeev , Devayani

Bharathi Recently released film "Bharathi" from director Gnana Rajasekharan has been immensely acclaimed by critics all over. Particularly with his stellar performance of the role of legendary Tamil poet Subramania Bharathi in the film, Marathi stage actor Shayaji Shinde has proved everyone beyond doubt a true artist would outshine beyond all lingual barriers. Of course credit should also be given to actor Rajeev who lent his majestic voice for Shayaji Shinde.

As far Devayani it is another wonderful performance from the talented lass. In fact you could say that Devayani never acted but just relived as Bharathi's wife Chellamma herself in the film. Besides in "Bharathi" Maestro Illayraja with his enthralling music score has certainly made a remarkable comeback. Then there is great screenplay from Gnana Rajasekharan rendered well with pleasing camerawork from Thankar Pachan. Despite all these positive

Despite all these positive aspects of the film, when it comes to commercial success, "Bharathi" has only got a raw deal at the box-office. Ruefully our people who always rush to movie-halls for glamour and eroticism, once again has failed to appreciate a quality film like "Bharathi". Reportedly there is hardly any crowd for the film in all trade centers.

Strangely even Tamil Nadu government so far has ignored the film by not giving the film a tax-free status. Actually it would be, nice if the government is generous enough to recognize the film by giving it a tax-free status so the film could recover a little of its production cost.

"Bharathi" may not be a commercial success. All said and done, with its superior quality it is certain that the film is bound to bag plenty of awards in near future.
