Movie: Dumm Dumm Dumm
Dumm Dumm Dumm

Director: Azhagam Perumal
Cast: Madhavan, Jyothika, Vivek, Richa, Delhi Kumar, Murali, Chinny Jayant, Kalpana.

It is a youthful, clean entertainer from debutant director Azhagam Perumal. The film begins a little differently, the first part interspersed with enjoyable humour. Some of the scenes and song picturisation (like, 'Deising Raja….', the catchy tunes by Kartik Raja) have the Manirathnam touch. Not surprising, since the director has had his apprenticeship with Manirathnam. It is after the story shifts to the city that the narration lags a little and becomes confused. A tighter grip on the script (credited to Manirathnam -R. Selvaraj - Azhagam Perumal) particularly the hospital scenes where Adithya's mother comes to recuperate would have helped a lot. The director, probably feeling that Vivek was not sufficient for providing comic relief, ropes in Chinny Jayant too. Though the episode has nothing to do with the plot, Chinny does a delightful take off on Kamal Hassan and 'Nayakan'. Ramji's camera gives some catchy visuals. While Madhavan fits in well with the role, Jyotika's expressions are becoming a little stereotyped.

The city educated, taking-life-easy Adithya comes to his village and learns that his father has finalized his marriage with his close friend's daughter Ganga. Adithya decides to do something to stop the marriage. Scared to confront his father, Adithya goes straight to Ganga and tells her that he was not ready for the marriage. To his pleasant surprise, Ganga replies that she too shares his feelings. She had plans of getting an engineering degree and marriage would have hampered her plans. With Ganga backing him, Adithya tries various ways to stop the marriage. As each of his moves backfire, Adithya finds himself drawn to Ganga and vice versa. As the duo revels in the new feeling and realises that marriage was not such a bad idea after all, fate intervenes. On the marriage eve, a slight misunderstanding between the parents snowballs into a major fight, and the marriage is called off. Adithya returns to the city. Ganga too reaches the same place to pursue her studies. The hurdles the duo has to cross, and how the two families reconcile, forms the rest of the plot.
