Movie: Kabadie Kabadie
Kabadie Kabadie

Director: R. Pandiarajan
Cast: Pandiarajan, Karan, Rasika, Chitra, Murthy, Manivannan, R. Sunderrajan

With Bhagyaraj's script geared to suit the image of Pandiarajan, as the guiless simpleton, who seems to lose in the early part but comes out triumphant in the end, and with Pandiarajan directing the film, and making the most of his role, the film turns out better than the actor's recent films with some of the scenes, though overdone, keeping pace with the tempo of the narration.

Pandian's attempts to woo neighbour Mythili backfires, each time he appearing like the villain of the piece to her and her family. The entry of the glib-talking Shiva on the scene makes matters worse for Pandian. Shiva is determined to woo Mythili by hook or crook. Finally, it is the tortoise who races past the hare.

The contrasting character of Shiva is played with acumen by Karan, while Rasika turns out better than in her earlier films. The closing scenes which include the antics of Rajan and his gang of local rowdies - a take off on the scenes in a routine Tamil film - who to help out Pandian kidnap Mythili's father, provides some humorous moments.
