Movie: Krishna Krishna
Director: S.Ve. Shekher
Cast: S.Ve. Shekher, Sukanya, Ramesh Khanna, Murthy, Vichitra
About a decade back it had come as a stage play (Athirstakkaran) that was written and directed by S.Ve.Shekher who also played the central role in it. For his debut direction, for the big screen, Shekher has chosen the same subject. He has not taken much strain to make the subject fit into the larger visual medium. Except for the backdrop to the scenes, the narrative style is what he had adopted for the stage. Sukanya who ruled the Tamil screen as its number one heroine some time back, and had disappeared from the scene, makes a comeback with this film. But the choice of her subject and film shows that the actress is not very serious about making an impact with her second coming.
Gopala Krishnan has a domineering mother. Bhama a working woman, afraid that her avaricious father would marry her off to the highest bidder, encounters Shekher, likes what she sees in him, woos him and finally gets him to marry her. The duo, afraid of his mother, gets married without her knowledge. But when they realise that his mother was aware of the matter, Krishna takes his wife home. From then on it is a slanging match between the two women in his life with Krishna caught in the middle. Certain situations show Krishna in a very unflattering light, making his wife suspect that her husband is the epitome of many bad habits. Unable to stand her constant nagging, Krishna takes his friend's advice. He informs his wife that her nagging had driven him to the arms of another woman. On her insistence he gives her some vague address. But the determined Bhama goes to the address finds a mentally imbalanced girl there, and mistaking her for her husband's mistress, brings her home.
Seeing his move backfiring, Krishna tries to set things right. After many more blunders, Bhama finally realises the sterling qualities of her husband and it is - all is well that ends well.
Since the stage play had come more than a decade back, quite a few of the scenes have already been picturised in some films. This movie is for those who have missed the drama and like to see Shekher in action.
