SnehithiyeThis was a film that was awaited with great anticipation by the audience. For the director's films are classy and are dealt with finesse. But Snehithiye belies all expectations and turns out to be a damp squib.

There's the college campus backdrop and the rivalry between two groups. One led by Vashisht Arun (the attractive daughter of Ila Arun) and the other by Jyothika. All fun filled and interesting scenes. Jyothika averts the impending marriage of best friend Shrabani by conjuring up an imaginary boyfriend for her. But to their consternation the non existent boyfriend turns up and later is shot dead in front of their hostel room. So far so good.

Arrested by Tabu the cop for murder, the duo manage to escape .Their misadventures and the unmasking of the killer forms the rest. Jyothika has done her part well. Shrabani looks etherealy beautiful, and cop Tabu puts up a dignified act, till the script lets her down in the second half.

The first part moves with breezy fun. The songs set to tune by Vidyasagar, are suitably placed , pleasant to the ears , and well picturised. Jeeva's camera provides a real treat to the eyes. But the script goes haywire in the second half, the shoddy treatment not helping matters either. The scenes here all seem to belong to some c-grade Hollywood thriller. Leading one to suspect whether Priyadarshan really directed this film!
