A comedy action entertainer laced family drama, with Arvind Samy playing the mass hero for the first time. The film is directed by Siddique, who also made the original in Malayalam a few years back. Amala Paul and Baby Nainika play important roles.

This film has music by Amrish. Arvind Swamy plays Bhaskar, a ruffian and a widower with a son, who falls for a single mother (Amala Paul). Siddique has ensured that it is not a copy of the Malayalam original.

But there are some high-voltage action. Interestingly of the Malayalam was very soft and delightful, here we have gone for a more action-oriented format in Tamil. The core story remains the same, while the screenplay of the second half has gone for some tinkering.Mamootty and Amala Paul essayed lead role in the original.

There is Akash (Raghavan) and Shivani (Nainika) and both are different from each other. Raghavan is cool and composed while the latter is aggressive. And Raghavan is taken care by his single father while Shivani is taken care by her single mother Amala Paul.

Vaskar (Aravind Swami) is a high-tempered businessman who ends up in fights. Shivani's mother, Anu (Amala) is quiet and takes things as it comes. She loses her husband Sanjay (After) in a mishap. Akash and Shivani decide to unite Baskar with Anu. But enters Sanjay.

What happens then forms the crux.Arvind swami is apt for the role and gives his best, while he has enough opportunity to excel in action and comedy scenes. Amala Paul is bubbly and entertaining. She plays her part well.

The two kids Raghavan amnd Nainika bond will pond screen. They come up with convincing performances. Soori, Robo Shankar and Ramesh Khanna try to evoke laughter, while Nasser plays a dotting granddad.Music by Amrish is engaging and BGM go well with the story.

Baskar Oru Rascal is an engaging stuff but there are enough to entertain audience too.
