Vijay and A R Murugadoss team up yet again after Thuppakki for Kaththi. If the former spoke against terrorism, the latter harps on the need to encourage agriculture and ensure the villages are not lost to industrialization.

The duo seems have planned well and executed things to perfection. After the controversy surrounding its release has died down, all eyes are now on the film. Though the first half is tad slow and unlike of a mass Vijay film, the latter half compensates for a slow start and gets going ion full throttle. Though the storyline is formulaic, two look alike swapping places, the plot is new and much-needed.

A crusader and his hard work to help save agriculturists from MNCs form the crux.Camera by George Williams and music by Anirush add fillip to the film. Another highlight of the movie is stunts by Anal Arasu. Kathiresan (Vijay) is a petty thief who escapes from jail in Alipore and lands in Chennai ion his friend's (Sathish).

He comes across Ankitha and falls for her. Meanwhile Kathiresan comes across his look alike Jeevanandham, who is attacked by goons. He saves him and admits him in hospital. Jeevanadham is mistaken as Kethiresan and he gets arrested by police. Meanwhile Kathiresan coming to know that Jeevanandham was a crusader and fought against MNCs cheating villagers and spoiling agriculture, comes up with a plan to fight them.

In the guise of Jeevam he continues his work. How he manages that and what problems that he faces for that forms the crux.It is a wholesome Vijay here. He excels in comedy and action. Emotions come naturally for him.

He has proved that he is a versatile actor with Kaththi. Samantha comes all through. She has shown glamour but has enough scope to act too. Sathish's one-liners evoke instant laughter, while dreaded villain Niel Nitin Mukesh is welcome addition to Tamil cinema.

Three cheers to ARM for a thought-provoking message to the society. It is a film that strives to serve a purpose.

Sharp and splendid
