It seems to be the season of remakes from Malayalam filmdom. Joining the list is Athithi. Inspired by Malayalam hit Cocktail, it is the story of a hapless parents played by Nandha and Ananya, who are threatened by a kidnapper.

Their daughter is under his custody and he dictates certain terms to them. How the parents bail themselves out of the trouble and what suspense awaits them in the climax makes it an interesting watch.

Nandha in spite of his cute looks and good performance has been missing out on success. Now comes Athithi, a perfect chance to prove his worth in the industry.

Ananya plays the female lead while Nikesh Ram does the role of kidnapper. Bharathan, who directed Vijay starrer Azhagiya Thamizh magan, wields the megaphone.

His dialogue writing prowess is known to all of us for his works in films like Ghilli, Osthe and Veeram wooed the masses. He has ensured that there are no dull moments and the events in the film holds your attention.

Nandha pulls it off well with his splendid performance. He does chip in with his good performance. Ananya brings out right emotions and she has enough scope to prove her acting skills.

Bharadwaj has come up with some catchy numbers while the rest of tyre work including cinematography and background score is okay.

All said, Bharathan deserves credit for giving a racy thriller that would strike a chord with the masses.

Run and chase
