Oru Kuppai Kadhai stars dance choreographer-turned-actor Dinesh in the lead. His maiden venture as hero. Untill now, people are familiar with him appearing in a cameo in dance sequences.

Manisha Yadav of Vazhakku En.. plays the heroine. The movie speaks about extramarital affair but also about the life and struggle of people who reel below poverty line.

The movie revolves around a rack picker and his small family who live in a slum in Chennai,However, things get messed up when the family moves to a posh locality and finds new neighbours.

The filmmaker Kaali Rangaswamy has scripted Oru Kuppai Kadhai in such a way that the story is not complicated, but the screenplay is very predictable. The way he tries to deliver the message is good.

Dinesh who we have shake his legs in peppy numbers before has an end-to-end screenspace here. The organic innocence that his face possess adds to the strength of the movie. He emotes well.

Manisha has a meaty role to do. She delivers it with aplomb. Yogi Babu with his one-liners tickle our funny bone.Kaali has a very subtle way of storytelling in which he documents the struggles of sanitary workers.

Their life, how people dwelling in slums find happiness in even the smallest of things, the way the society treats married women who elope, and how friends meet up over weekends to drink and smoke are narrated well.Oru Kuppa Kadhai is a different film but for a predictable climax.
