Pa Vijay's Strawberry is eerie thriller loaded with horror elements, but strikingly different from the movies on the genre. More like a Shankar's movie, it carries a mass theme.

Acclaimed lyricist Pa Vijay, who acted in films including Ilaigan among others, has come out with a splendid movie that is engaging and educative. Produced, directed and enacted by himself, the movie has enough elements to keep one glued to their seats.

No wonder why Sri Thenandal Films has chosen to distribute the film across Tamilnadu. The movie is based on a real life incident that shook the nation. The various headlines surrounding the traffic mishap makes up the story.

Vijay has taken the help of ghost stories and mixed them together to render a sweet Strawberry.Pa Vijay is a call taxi driver, who lives a happy life with his friend Robo Shankar. One fine day, his services are hired by a rich girl Avni Modi for a month.

She is a human soul painter. She briefs Vijay about ghosts, spirits and how they take a medium to achieve their unfulfilled desires. Her father Joe Malluri is a tantric. When Vijay thinks Avni is in love with him, Joe Malluri explains to him that the spirit of a young girl, who died recently, wants to meet him.

A flashback reveals that a six-year-old girl Anjali falls from a hole in a school bus and dies on the spot and Vijay's efforts to rescue her fails. The school authorities fix the case and threaten her parents Samutrhirakani and Devyani to withdraw case.

In such a juncture, the spirit takes the help of Vijay to take revenge on the school authorities for their negligence. How she does it forms the rest. With enough good computer graphic scenes, this fantasy flick does manage to leave a mark.

Three cheers to Mara Varman, the cinematographer. He captures Chennai in a beauitiful way. The aerial shots are a delight. Taj Noor who started with Vamsam, chips in with a super cool background score. The songs and BGM suits the story well.

Vijay played his part well, while Avni Modi is passable. Samuthirakani and Devayani are good while Thambi Ramiah in a cameo is good. The script seems to have been researched well and the execution is brilliant. With a strong message on safety of children in schools, Strawberry ends impressive.

Engaging & educative
