Two friends. One romance. A killing. Friends turn foe. There is a revenge drama and deceit. This has been time-tested story in Tamil cinema. Vijay Sethupathi and Kreshna starrer Vanmam is no different.

The movie directed by Jeyakrishna has Vijay Setupathi. Kreshna and Sunaina in the cast. Thaman has scored music for the movie produced by Jhabhak Productions.

Interestingly Vijay Sethupathi and Kreshna both take to a rural role with ease. Considering their recent flicks, Vanmam is strikingly different from their earlier choices. Jeyakrishna, the debutant filmmaker, has chosen to set the film in Nagercoil.

Vijay Sethupathi is at his ease. Cool, casual and splendid. He carries the movie on his shoulders. Articulate in his performance, he excels in the character. The bubbly Kreshna is adequate to play Vijay Sethupathi's friend. Sunaina is bubbly, cute and does her role well. Goli Soda fame Madhusudhan chips in well.

The movie boasts of a huge star cast and all contribute their might. Vijay Sethupathi and Kreshna are two friends and for them it is romance. They have a fun-filled life and everything is cool for them under the sun. But call it an irony; Vijay Sethupathi kills a big man in the village Madhusudhan. Interestingly his sister Sunaina is in love with Kreshna.

This creates an enmity between Kreshna and Vijay Sethupathi. Enters Jaypee to woo Kreshna to avenge Vijay Sethupathi. But there are enough twists and turns in the script before all ends well.

Jeyakrishna's weak link is the screenplay. A deja vu feel prevails while there are some lengthy narrations. What covers up the whole drama is Vijay Sethupathi's towering screen presence.

Friends, foes
