Krish grabs chance to direct Hindi remake of ‘Ramana’

There is an increasing trend of remaking Tamil hit movies in Hindi.  As the remake movies record Rs 100 crore in collection, the remake trend is turning prominent. 

Director Sanjay Leela Bhansali purchased remake rights of ‘Siruthai’ and made the movie in Hindi.  The remake is none other than Akshay Kumar Starrer ‘Rowdy Rathore’.  Prabhudeva directed the movie.  The movie earned Rs 100 crore in collection.

Sanjay Leela Bhansali is producing ‘Ramana’, directed by AR Murugadoss, which starred Vijaykanth.  Akshay Kumar does the remake.  Bhansali, who takes up remake of South Indian movies, desires that the movie is directed by a South Indian director. 

Discussions were held with Jayam Raja for direction of Hindi remake of ‘Ramana’.  The first level discussions ended amicably.  Then, second and third level discussions were also held.  But, Raja abruptly dropped out of the venture. 

Many reasons are being cited for Jayam Raja to drop out of the movie.  Salary issue, difference of opinion with Bhansali regarding change to screenplay, are cited as reasons.  The chance to direct Hindi remake of ‘Ramana’ has gone to Telugu director Krish. 

Krish directed Telugu movie ‘Vedam’.  Then, he directed the same movie in Tamil as ‘Vaanam’. The movie starred Simbu, Bharat and Anushka.  The Hindi remake of Ramana has been titled ‘Gabbar’.
