No shooting from 27 Monday

With Tamil Film Producers Council (TFPC) calling for a halt to all shootings from 27 July, Kollywood looks set to come to a standstill from Monday. Shooting for over 50 films including Kamal Haasan's Thoongavanam, Vijay, Ajith and Suriya starrers would stand to get cancelled.

An office-bearer of TFPC said, 'We are forced to cancel all works in protest against Film Employees Federation of South India's (FEFSI) unilateral decision to increase their wages.'According to sources in the know, talks between the office-bearers of both the associations on wage revision were on for the last three days.

At such a juncture, FEFSI officials, on their own, went ahead andannounced a revised salary hike without the producers' council consent. 'Already production costs are touching the roof.

When such is the case we can only explore ways and means to arrive at a decision on their demand to increase their remuneration,' the office-bearer said.
