Udhayanidhi wants tax exemption for ‘Nanbenda’

Udhayanidhi Stalin has moved Madras High court for the denial of entertainment tax exemption to his latest movie ‘Nanbenda’.

Justice S Vaidyanathan before whom the petition came up for hearing on Wednesday ordered notice to the Commercial Taxes Commissioner returnable by April 7.

“The exemption from entertainment tax for the petitioner’s movie (Naanbenda) shall be subject to outcome of this petition,” the Court said.

The petitioner has mentioned that, “The authorities have opined that the movie contains several English words, series of violent and sexually explicit scenes not relevant to the storyline and therefore was against Tamil culture”.

But all these were false and fictitious and made with the sole intention of depriving the petitioner of tax exemption, said the counsel who appeared for the petitioner.
